The Hudson Family Massacre

On Friday October 24 around 3p.m. the bodies of Jennifer Hudson’s mother Darnell Donerson, 57 and Brother Jason Hudson, 29 were found dead in their home from gunshot wounds. Neighbors heard the gunshots between 8-9a.m., but thought nothing of it. Gunshots are what they are use to in Englewood on the south side of Chicago. It was said that before the suspect entered the home; he first shot through the door. The suspect which is Jennifer‘s Hudson‘s brother-in-law William Balfour who was married to Julia, Jennifer’s sister has not been charged yet. Family and friends said that they heard William making threats towards the family because of conflict that was going on with him and his ex-wife Julia. Details of the motive were not given.

 

Julia Hudson’s 7 year old son was reported missing after discovering the death of her mother and brother. Her son Julian King is 130lbs and known to be a fun loving kid. Her son has been missing for a few days. The grieving mother makes a plea with her son’s father Greg King to whoever has her son to bring him back home. Her ex-husband is the suspect of the kidnapping of her son. The suspect William Balfour was in a white suburban and it’s believed that Julian was in the truck with him.

While being informed about this tragedy Jennifer Hudson was in Miami on business. The murders took place in her mother’s home at the 7000 block of South Yale Avenue in Englewood Chicago IL. Jennifer Hudson was on the 3 Season of American Idol who won viewers and the audience with her amazing voice. She has starred in the movie “Dreamgirls” and won a 2007 Academy Award for her spectacular performance. She’s played a role in “Sex and the City” and just released a new movie out this year “The Secret Life of Bees”. Jennifer grew up in Chicago and attended church on Sundays. She worked at Burger King at 19 to make ends meet. She’s came a long way and has to go an even longer way with this tragedy. Jennifer tried to get her mom to move out of the neighborhood. Her mother Darnell had been living there for 20 years. She refuses to leave because she loved and didn’t want to leave her home, family and neighbors.

 

Family and friends gather at the home the day after the murders took place to show their support and love. Sadly on October 27 a few days later, the body of Julian King was found 14 blocks from the home in the white suburban. The little boy was shot multiple times and left for dead in the truck. William Balfour’s girlfriend is now a suspect. She said that William didn’t do it. He was with her that morning. With the death of their mother, brother and now her son, I can’t imagine what the parents of Julian are going through. To lose your only child in such a horrible way is devastating. Maybe that’s not even the word for what they are going through. I don’t think there’s anything worse then losing a child. Words just can’t describe the feelings and the pain that’s occurs when losing your only baby. He was only 7 years old. This little sweet boy was innocent and he didn’t deserve this. Keep Julia Hudson, Greg King, and the Family in your prayers. This is an unimaginable tragedy for the Hudson family.

Update:  A gun, what is believed to be the murder weapon was found in a alley on the westside on 14th and Kolin.  The police are doing a background check on the weapon and balistics.

The funeral of Jennifer Hudson and Julia Hudson Family Memebers is today, Nov. 3, 2008. At the Apostoslic Church Of God at 63rd and Dorchester.  The funeral was a private funeral.

 Woman Chains Herself To Her House To Keep From Getting Evicted

Today October 28 on the news was a story about a woman who chained herself to her home to keep from getting evicted.  She lost her job 2 years ago and has been struggling with mortgage payments ever since.  While the bank was in the process of taking her home, she applied for a loan and was approved.  Trying to convince the bank that she can make payments, they ignore her and continue the process of evicting her from her home.  She sits on her porch everyday, chained up until the day that they come to evict her.  She’s hoping this works and they change their minds, so that she can keep her home. What I have to say;  It’s said, I feel for her.  We all are going through hard times right now.  All we can do is hope and pray for better days.

On My Way To Fabulous Thighs

Overview: Getting in shape can be hard for those of you who you who have never worked out. My biggest problem when it came to working out was getting my thighs toned. With a lot of work and practice I have found a solution for me maybe, it can work for you too.

I have always been active since I was little my mom was an active woman. As I got older and pregnant, my body did not quite look the same anymore. It was not too bad, it just I did not look the way I wanted it to look. I started working out and I got back in shape. I am a full figure woman, but just because I am, does not mean I cannot look good and be in good shape. My main problem when it came to getting in shape was trying to shape up my thighs. I lost weight and I was firming up all over my body except for my thighs. With a lot of hard work, I finally found a solution to getting those tight and smooth eye catching thighs.

Squats are one of the best ways to getting those firm legs. It also helps tighten the muscles in your buttocks, start with about 25 squats a day. Stand with your feet shoulder length apart looking straight ahead arms on your hips. Push yourself down with your butt almost touching the floor while holding in your stomach. This is a good way to work that abs. If you cannot go that far go down as far as you comfortably can. Rise up slowly and release your abs, then exhale slowly. You can rest after 12 reps and finish the rest if you cannot do the whole 25 at one time. I have worked my self up to doing 50 of them; try to do these three-fives times a week.

Lounges are my favorite they work your legs, butt and hips. Stand with your feet shoulder length apart looking straight ahead. Step with the right leg in front of you and the left in the back. Slowly bend the right leg forward, inhale going down and exhale coming up. Rise up and put the right leg back in its position with the legs shoulder length apart. Put the left leg in front of you and bend down with the left leg. Rise back up with the left leg in the position it was in before, shoulder length apart. Repeat this position until you have done 25 of them, if you cannot do 25 then do how many you can and work your way up. When doing this position make sure your balance is right, you can hurt your knee or ankle if you do it wrong. Add 5lb weights to advance it. Do arm curls as you go down, do as many as your body let you do. Don’t over do it, try to do this about three- five times a week.

Jogging, try to run about 10-20 minutes a day, if you are an outdoor person. Work your way up until you can jog for about 30 minutes to an hour a day, for three or five times a week. Make sure you have good running shoes it is very important when it comes to being comfortable and supporting your legs.

Elliptical or Treadmill, ride for 20 to 30 minutes a day. Try to ride about three to five days a week. Start slow, you do not want to do too much at one time. Just gradually work yourself up to an hour if you want doing 30 minutes is fine.

This is what worked for me and is still working for me. You can figure out what days you want to do which exercises or combine them in a week’s time, whatever works for you. I am looking good and you can too. Also, watch out for what you eat, tries eating foods with more water for fullness. Eat more fiber and less fat and cholesterol. Make sure you do not lack in nutrition it is very important in maintaining good health and energy.

Tip: if you sit at your desk for hours at a time.  Take a few minutes to do squats to stretch and keep your legs in shape.  Between 10 to 30 at least twice a day.  Break it into small sessions.

Tips On How To Get Rid Of Belly Fat

Over the years I’ve Learned a few things when it comes to losing weight and it has not been easy.  One thing I learned about my body is that my body tends to shedd pounds, but in different areas of my body.  So, I learned what techniques to do for special parts of my body to get toned.  If you really want to lose weight and be healthier then it’ll happen without any setbacks as long as it’s what you want to do and you do it right.  I don’t believe in diets at all, I just believe in changing my eating habits so that I can eat better and healthier.  These techniques are easy and you should see results in as little as two weeks, depending on the person.

  • Walking is an excellent way to shedd body fat.  When you walk you swing with your arms and as you swing with your arms so does your midsection.  While you’re walking with your arms freely swinging from side to side you are constantly switching your hips, butt, and stomach which causes you to shedd the fat from your belly.  It’s like a twisting motion, something like doing the dance called the Twist.  While walking make sure you hold in your stomach for as long as you can on and off while walking.  Another way to make the fat shedd quickly while walking is to wear a belly wrap.  This will make you sweat twice as much, the material inside of the belly wrap causes you to sweat more as you move. 
  • Before you begin your routine make sure you can walk between 3-4 days a week for at least 20-30 minutes.  Make sure you start off slow when walking then gradually tune it up until the point you feel your heart beating faster and you feel the burn in your body.  Do what makes you feel comfortable.
  • Listening to music can make it easier and enjoyable.  Take a ipod, or your walkman with you.  Listen to songs that you get you jumping, excited!
  • Usually after I’m done walking I come right home and while my body is still burning calories I do some on the wall push-ups and workout techniques for the stomach while standing up and squats.
  • On the wall push-ups is like doing push-ups on the floor, but your doing it on the wall.  Put both arms on the wall the way you would as if you were on the floor about to do push-ups.  Stand with your feet shoulder lenght apart make sure you don’t stand to close to the wall stand arm lenth away from the wall.  Now, push your body foward towards the wall and push yourself off.  Remember it’s like doing the regular old fashion push-ups.  Do about 15-30 reps.  This is a good way to tone your arms and your upper back.
  • Squats is very effective way to gain muscle tone in your thighs.  I do about 25-50 squats.  Stand straight with your feet shoulder lenght apart.  Bend down until you bend your knees like you are about to sit on the floor.  Bend towards the middle and raise yourself back up, keep doing these reps until you feel you’ve done enough.  Gradually work your way up to doing more squats.
  • Stomach Crunches While Standing up.  Stand with feet shoulder lenght apart, put your hands on the back of your head the way you would as if you were about to do crunches on the floor.  Look adhead with your arms on your head raise your right leg with knee bent towards your body.  Your elbow should almost touch your knee as you are raising your leg up.  Hold stomach in every time you release your leg back onto the floor.  Contiune with the left let, do about 15-30 reps with each leg.  This is good for the mid section and love handles.
  • Target Those Love Handles.  Stand with feet shoulder lenght apart again.  Lean your body towards the left side with knee bending slightly.  Raise your right arm in the air pointing to the left, raise your right leg about 4-5 inches off the floor while bringing down your arm towards the right side.  Start off slow, then tune it up a little bit you should feel it working your muscles.  Bend the right arm as you pull your leg off the ground.  Do the same on the other side of your body, do about 15-30 reps on each side.  Which ever you’re comfortable doing.
  • Change your eating habits Eat your food in moderation, eat more veggies.  Stay away from fried foods, you can eat it sometimes, but in moderation.  Watch what you drink.  Sodas and other drinks contains calories and lots of sugar, be careful on how much you consume.  You don’t have to give up your favorite foods if you learn how to eat healthier you’ll be able to enjoy your favorite foods sometimes.

There are three stages of Breast Cancer

My Famous Thanksgiving Recipes; Sweet Potato Pie

The smell of a hot fresh sweet potato pie on Thanksgiving is one of the best smells in the world. I’ve always looked forward to homemade pies on the holidays. It’s my favorite dessert besides banana pudding. If this is your favorite pie and you don’t know how to make it. This recipe is the easiest to follow. If you just want to impress someone with some homemade cooking my recipe will win the award. The ingredients are very simple and inexpensive. Hope you enjoy and are looking out for more of my recipes. With this recipe you can make three sweet potato pies. You will need:
 

 

  • Five large sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 3 eggs (large)
  • TBSP of cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1 stick and a tbsp of butter
  • TSP of salt
  • Three original pie crusts.
  • Large bowl

First rinse potatoes with warm water. Get a large pot and boil water, put the potatoes in the boiling water and let boil for about at hour and a half. Until tender. While the potatoes are cooking turn the oven on 300. Sit the butter out on counter to soften. Once potatoes are done, let them cool off.

Peel all the skin off of the potatoes. Put them in a bowl and smash them with a potato smasher whisk or whatever you have. Try to get it creamy like mash potatoes.

Add your butter, eggs, nutmeg, salt, cinnamon and a cup of sugar. Add in a half of cup of flour and stir. Then add the rest of the flour, mix well. Taste and see if it’s tasting like that good old sweet potato pie. If you need more sugar add it. Adjust to your taste; add a little more of each to get that taste you want if needed.

I don’t believe in measuring, I’m good when it comes to putting in the right amount of ingredients. It runs in my family. We all are great cooks and soul food is our specialty. All you need when it comes to making home cook meals is the right amount of love and soul that’s the secret to great cooking.

Now, that the entire pie filling is ready you are ready to fill in your pie crusts. Pour filling into to the pie crusts. Do not over fill, leave enough room inside the crust so that the pie will rise and not drip out of the pan inside the oven. Tip: You can spray a little butter flavor cooking spray into the crust to give it that butter tasting flavor.

Put the pies into the oven and let cook for an hour. When done the top of the pie should be a nice brown color. Let cool for a half an hour or serve fresh out of the oven. My Homemade Cornbread Dressing, Um, Um Good!

 

 

      

     

    

   

  

 

 

Homemade dressing is a favorite in my family. We never bothered with the stores dressing. Nothing tastes better then homemade dressing from the soul. A lot of meat and spices brings out this dish. I am a meat person and I have to have my meat. I will make it as easy for you as possible when it comes to making this recipe. It has takes a lot of work, patience and especially a lot of love. The servings are between eight to ten people.
You will need:
One 5-pound bag of chicken quarters or legs. Either or it does not matter.
One pack of celery
One large bell pepper
One large onion
Cornmeal

Flour

Baking powder and Baking Soda

Salt

Eggs

2 TBSP of Garlic

Sage

Pepper

Cooking oil

3 TBSP of season salt

Milk or Water

 

Take the chicken and rinse thoroughly. Get a large pot and fill half way with water. Put chicken into the pot and let chicken boil on high at the top of stove. Let chicken boil for a little over an hour. While chicken is cooking, add the seasoning. Add the season salt, pepper, and garlic. If you want, you can use fresh garlic. Sometimes I use fresh garlic, but to make things go by a little quicker I go for the garlic powder. While chicken is boiling, you can start to prepare the cornbread.

The homemade cornbread for the dressing
First, turn the oven on 350 degrees. In a large bowl, add:
2 cups of flour
2 ½ cups of cornmeal
TSP of salt
TSP of baking soda
TSP of baking powder

Stir in dry ingredients. If want a little sweetness to your cornbread add a half of cup of sugar. Now with this cornbread there’s no need to add eggs, because you are going to add the eggs later on in the recipe.

Now, with the dry ingredients all mix up, you can add either milk or water with it. It does not matter. Pour two and a half cups of milk or water into the bowl. While pouring the water or milk slowly stir it into the bowl with the ingredients. Stir until batter is smooth. It does not have to be too smooth. If batter seems a little thick, add a little more water or milk. If it seems too much like liquid, add a little more flour or cornmeal. Add 1/3 cup of cooking oil and stir. Now you are done with the batter for the cornbread.

Pour the cornbread mixture into a rectangle like cake pan. Alternatively, you can buy one of those aluminum-dressing pans they have at the stores. For about 99 cents or more. Sit the cornbread mixture in the oven and let it cook for about a half hour to forty minutes. It does not have to cook all the way through. Make sure has been in the oven for at least forty minutes, depending how your oven cooks. Check chicken and add a cup of water. Let boil some more if water has gotten to low in the pot. You do not want to let the water boil all the way down; you are going to use the chicken water later in this recipe.

While the cornbread and chicken are cooking, you can start to get your peppers, celery and onion ready. Rinse the bell pepper and celery off. Chop the onion and bell peppers up into small pieces or coarse pieces. Whichever one you prefer. Break off three to four celery stalks and cut them up into small pieces.

If an hour or so has passed, the chicken should be ready. Turn chicken off and let cool for about half an hour. If you want to get right to it, you can just start by taking the chicken out of the pot and sit on a large plate. Do not throw away the chicken juice. It is the main and most important seasoning of the dressing. I use the only homemade chicken broth for my dressing.Remove the chicken from the bones with knife or hands. Break into medium size pieces. You can use the skin of the chicken if you like. If not just, throw it away. You can put the pieces of chicken into a big bowl or pan.

Add a tbsp of sage to the chicken. Throw in the celery, onions, and bell peppers. Get a toothpick or butter knife and poke a hole in the cornbread to see if it is ready. If batter is on the toothpick that mean it is not ready. If it comes out dry then it’s ready.

Now, get the cornbread and break it up with a fork in a large dressing pan. Add chicken ingredients, eggs and the chicken juice that is in the pot. This is all of your seasoning; you will not have to add anymore seasoning unless you choose to, to adjust your taste buds. Smash the dressing mixture with your hands to make sure all of the chicken mixture is all through the bread. It is sloppy, but somebody has to do it. Shape the bread into the form of big cake. Throw it into the oven for an hour and you are done. Wow! You can take a breather now. Now, that the hard work is finally done. You can sit back relax and enjoy.

 No More Dry Turkey Recipe With My Butter Juice.

Turkey is the Main dish when it comes to thanksgiving. So you want it to be the best looking and the most tender, juiciest eye appealing dish on the table. People will never forget that juicy turkey. I take pleasure in preparing my turkey. I love turkey it’s one of the healthiest meats to eat. To keep my turkey nice and moist I use my butter seasoning juice. Ok, here we go.

You will need:

A Turkey

Butter

Roasting Pan

Aluminum Foil

Season salt

Garlic powder

Onion Powder

Pepper

 

First let your turkey defrosts all night. You can let it defrost in the fridge. Once it is defrosted, take it out of the wrapper and rinse thoroughly. Turn oven on 300 to 350 degrees. Unloop the legs from the skin and remove the heart, liver and etc pack from inside of the turkey. You will need a roasting pan for the turkey. Place the turkey in the pan and poke holes into the turkey. Poke holes all over the turkey, the legs, wings, breast and butt. If you’re using an aluminum roasting pan, be careful not to poke a hole in it. It takes a turkey three and a half to four hours to cook. Depending on how much the turkey weighs.

The Butter Seasoning Juice

You need a stick and a half of butter. Melt butter in medium bowl in microwave or on the top of the stove in a small pot. If you are melting the butter on the stove make sure you turn the eye on the stove down to low heat. If you are melting the butter in the microwave. Use a microwaveable bowl with a top to melt it. It will not take the butter long to melt in the microwave, so put the microwave on 30 seconds.

Pour three tbsp of seasoning salt, tbsp of garlic powder, onion powder and a tsp of pepper into the butter and stir. Pour the seasoning all over the turkey while rubbing it. Rub it to make sure the butter juice gets all over the turkey and through the holes. This will keep the turkey moist and make it tender. Place the top of the roasting pan over the turkey and put it in the oven. If you have an aluminum pan that does not have a top use aluminum foil to cover the turkey. Cover it tight; fold the foil under the rim of the pan so that it does not come loose.

Every half an hour to forty minutes baste the turkey with the butter juice that it is cooking in. This keeps it from drying out. Keep basting until turkey is done, the turkey usually comes with a pop out timer that’ll pop out to let you know when it’s done. That’s it you are finished and you can congratulate yourself on a job well done.

Climbing To The Top Of The Mountain Need A Little Inspiration?

It seems that no matter how much climbing we do it always seems there’s more climbing to do to get to the top. Today times are much harder then it was 20 or 30 years ago. Things were much cheaper, the towns were much safer and the kids were just kids. Now things are not so easy anymore. The richer get richer and the poorer get poorer. We have to work twice as hard to accomplish our goals and sometimes it leads to nowhere. I always have faith that one day all of my dreams are going to come true, no matter how hard it gets and how many down falls I have to overcome. If you really want to be successful deep down in your soul it’ll happen, it might not happen when you want it to, but like my momma always say and I quote “ It always comes right on time”

I love a challenge, it makes me want to work harder and I don’t like anything if it’s too easy there’s no fun in it. I’ve been climbing trying to reach the top of the mountain for years and there’s always something trying to push me down, but I won’t let it. I’ve had down falls in my business, tragedy in my family, losing my home, money, and was on the verge of losing my sanity. The devil almost had me. The only thing that keeps my going is looking at my children’s faces and seeing all that innocence and joy in them. With all the craziness going on in this world, kids are always happy and always can make you realize the good in this messed up world. I’m still climbing to my dreams, I’m still facing obstacles that gets in my way, but I never give up. I dedicate myself to be all that I can be and to be to show my kids a good example of getting what you want, nothing comes easy. Take a breather, it’s ok to rest as long as you don’t give up you’ve got to reach to the top of that mountain.

It’s hard I know, think about what’s best for you. Whether you’re in a abusive relationship, lost a job, or lost a loved one in death or with drugs. it’s up to you to turn your faith around and make it better for you, no one else just you. When we pray and our prayers does not get answered, I know the question that comes to mind is, Did God here me? If he loves me why am I still suffering? He heard you he carries you through all of the storms. You just haven’t realized it yet.

Remember the Footprints saying? This is what god says.

Footprints: My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

 He’s always there when you least expect it. Always have faith and faith will carry you. Climbing to the top of the mountain isn’t as hard as it seems. You’re there already because you have family, hope, love, and most of all God. How does it feel to be at the top of that mountain? I’m there and I feel like there’s no stopping me, get out of my way or you’ll get ran over. I have faith, I have love, I have success because I am loved and I’ve finally climbed to the top of my mountain.

I am beautiful, I am worthy. There is good in me, all I want is for you to look and see.
No more stepping on my toes I just can’t take it no more. I’m about to close this door to open up a new one. Open one with better opportunities, better respect and more confidence in myself. It’s what I deserve.

You will raise your hands at me no more! Because my momma always said you hit, you better expect to get hit back. No more black eyes, no more of keeping me from something better, no more saying I love you because of the kids sake. I can raise them on my own, I’d rather be alone. Rather then to have no pride about myself. I am a strong, intelligent and a beautiful woman.

It helps my daughter with her skin because she suffers for eczema which causes her skin to be sensitive and extremely dry. I love it and will never go without it.
